Educational Project

An innovative
educational project

The educational offer at Colégio Quadrante includes children from Babies Nursery to Preparatory School, promoting educational continuity between school years and the development and learning of all students. We offer a set of curricular and extracurricular activities that guarantee diversified and complete learning experiences, as well as a welcoming and safe educational environment, which values the school-family relationship and promotes the global development – emotional, social, physical and cognitive – of our students.

Diversified educational offer

We follow the evolution of society and education, and maintain a complete and current educational offer, with diversified and comprehensive curricular and extracurricular proposals. Our students enjoy pedagogically, rich and motivated learning experiences – in a school context and community outings, that involve areas such as experimental science, environmentally friendly education, sports, art, culture, technologies and history, among others.

Multiculturalism and inclusion

We are a multicultural and inclusive school that welcomes and integrated students of all nationalities and that values the cultural and linguistic diversity of their families.

Family Involvement

We encourage the active participation of all families, which we consider partners in the implementation of our educational project.

Individualized education

Our school practices an individualised and inclusive education respecting the rhythm of each child and mobilising all the necessary measures to support the development of their full potential. We accomplish our mission by always working in a multidisciplinary team and in collaboration with families.

Personal and social education

We are a team that reflects daily on how to improve the quality of our educational services. Pedagogically, we regularly define objectives according to curricular guidelines and essential learning to be achieved; We privilege education for values and the personal and social shaping of our students.

We assume a pedagogical approach that respects the individuality of each child and provides opportunities to interact with their peers and with the context that surrounds them, hence starting to build their knowledge about the world and about themselves.

We encourage interactions that combine caring and educating, ensuring the satisfaction of children´s basic needs – hygiene, food, sleep – but also organising places and time in a pedagogically stimulating way that promotes the development of socio-emotional and communication skills, curiosity and exploration, security, self-esteem and learning.

We have a differentiating project developed by specialised teachers who guarantee early quality in terms of the English language, plastic expression, music and psychomotricity.

Preschool

Our preschool project values each child, recognises their ability to be subjects and agents in the educational process, to build their own development and learning, strengthening their relationship with themselves, with others and with the world. The development and learning take place in a holistic form, interconnecting the various dimensions.

We provide a rich and interactive environment in our preschool classrooms, creating learning settings that stimulate the child´s development, with an explicit educational intention. We value their previous experiences, their knowledge, and skills, looking to contribute to the development of their maximum potential: motor, social, emotional, cognitive and linguistic.

We support inclusion and diversity, welcoming and respecting all children and all families, in a collaborative environment that encourages the participation of the whole school community and a close connection with the local community.

We educate safe, confident, and autonomous children, with self-esteem, available to learn, curious and creative, capable of solving problems and with good social and communication skills.

Our project respects the Curricular Guidelines for preschool Education, addressing the contents areas – Personal and Social Training, Expression and Communication and knowledge of the world – in an integrated and globalising manner, enriching them with specific curricular activities such as English, visual arts, music and physical education.

Primary School

Our primary School offers a solid pedagogical proposal based on active methodologies and the development of a project of quality that educates children who are already active, autonomous, responsible, persevering, and outdoing citizens, that excel themselves supportive, curious, reflective, interventional and entrepreneurial.

Our students benefit from individualised support, valuing their previous experiences, their interests and their unique characteristics, recognising their abilities and believing that they should be co-builders of their own learning. We propose a participative pedagogy in which students are invited to build relevant learning, within reach of diversified, integrative and stimulating activities and projects.

In order to promote educational success, we offer individual or small group support to students – Tutoring.

Our educational project anticipates the planning of activities and the awareness of projects that cover the areas of abilities published in the Students Leaving Compulsory school age Profile. However, we enrich our curriculum with specific knowledge, skills and attitudes that we consider relevant in the training of our students: daily English, music, visual arts, information and communication technologies (ICT), environmental and sustainability education and food education.

Preparatory School is a transition period between childhood and pre-adolescence, at Colégio Quadrante, students benefit from a gradual and individualised adaptation, where growth is based on commitment, responsibility, autonomy and motivation.

The considerable range of disciplinary areas and the teaching team facilitate the development of students within the 21st century skills, where interdisciplinarity, project work, education for citizenship, practical and experimental work, information and communication technologies and the arts are valued.

We value the active and central role of the student in the learning process. We use active methodologies and inter and transdisciplinary work projects. We promote innovative classes, in diverse settings, inside and outside the school.
